Muckelroy's issues in the OSU game were that the Cowboys effectively gameplanned him out of it. He's a damn good OLB, but there might be a little too much going on for him at MLB with 2 gap responsibility. It's certainly waaaay too much for Norton to handle, if the play gets that far.

Yes, I think Muschamp will try to play a lot of 3-4 dime, cover 2 like he did with Mizzou.

3-4? Really?

I really think Texas will still run out of base DL dropping LBs for DBs and a lot of zone dog. Harrell is going to be harrassed from a bunch of different looks, with DEs dropping into passing lanes for disruption. I am trying to imagine how effective Muschamp thinks we'd be in man, but I bet he's going to rely on zone.

<p>"Our defensive line is every bit as good as Virginia’s."</p>
<p>Arguable, but okay. I think we will see a lot more of Leach's max protect, playaction stuff down the field to get Muschamp out of man coverage and try to run against an undermanned front. If it doesn't work early, we'll probably abandon it, but we've been rolling with it for about 2 or 3 plays per series. Which has proven to be more than sufficient <del datetime="2008-10-28T23:11:41+00:00">against shitty competition</del>.</p>

"Muschamp is ultimately a 3-4 disciple and his buddy Al Groh gave Tech a lot of problems. While your DL is not the caliber of Virginia’s, they still might be good enough to play some 3-4 dime with Orakpo and Houston at DE and Miller at NG."-Dedfischer

Our defensive line is every bit as good as Virginia's. You have to remember where Virginia plays first. Virginia had 74 tackles for loss last year for 343 yards. We are on pace for 90 for 456. Virginia had 43 sacks, and we are on pace for 47.

I expect to see us rushing multiple defenders through the same gap, and a lot of twists to confuse blockers, while the other guys drop out in coverage. All we want to do is rush throws, and you don't need a lot of guys to do it. You just need one or two guys to beat one of their men, and get in Harrell's face. That can be done without compromising too many guys from your coverage. If we can get after him with three, and drop 8 we can cause problems.

"I doubt we’ll see a lot of zone, for that reason. Our strength is man + pressure right now"

I assumed Texas would be playing man, as will Tech if they have learned anything from their first 8 games. Harrell and Co. eat zone defenses for breakfast, and the Tech D is terrible in zone.

Size and speed wise, I think Texas in man against Tech's WRs tends to favor Tech (with the exception of Morris), espcially if Chykie isn't 100%. I am interested to see what Muschamp will do to bring pressure and how Tech responds. I have no doubt that if Tech tries to wait for plays to develop, the Texas DL will find the weak spot. But I also don't expect Harrell to hold the ball for long. So the speed of the pass rush will be the key for Texas, and finding the mismatch in the man coverage will be key for Harrell (I know that's stating the obvious).

I have a hunch that if Texas can't get quick pressure with 4, Muschamp will go primarily to a 3 man front and try to force Tech to beat Texas on the ground and we'll find out if Baron Batch is for real.

"I concur. I think if Tech can buy enough time for Harrell, the Tramain Swindalls and Detron Lewis’ of this team will show to have a better understanding of zone coverage than the young UT DBs. I just don’t know, if we’ll have enough time for those routes to develop."

Potentially.

"There has been a lot of talk about Morris, but I like the way Lewis, Swindall and Britton match up against the Texas secondary."

CA,

I haven't received it yet. Did you send it through the BC email? I don't need my dots to move around. I just need to draw Xs and Os with arrows. Is it pretty easy?
