This really has been a great start. It’s pretty exciting to see dark horse teams winning by playing solid basketball rather than just shooting the lights out. 4 year players are so key.

I think your overall point is a good one. Barnes is a “system” guy especially defensively, which plays into how he overall plays the game. He wants to play a high pressure, overplay man2man scheme predicated on effort, good technique and overall quickness. Similar to Duke, but even Coach K (in fairness

What a glorious, glorious day of basketball at the Ford Center Saturday.
First, Ali Ali Farokhmanesh and all the other Panthers with cool names took down Kansas as Sherron Collins made his best effort to shed that “clutch” label on the last game of his collegiate career. Then of course, Kansas State waved goodbye to Jimmer

Offense
Both teams are unselfish and preach sharing the ball. A&M is a balanced scoring team. Sloan showed in the first round against Utah State, for example, that he can defer when his teammates have things going. Purdue once again will have to rely on JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore to produce, and hope

OU, OSU, USC and probably Tech would beat Penn State senseless. Bama is better and plays a much tougher schedule. I think Georgia would hand them their ass, and so would Florida. This is a joke.
I’m sure whoever has television rights is praying “God help us,” because Penn State would be a ratings loser in a championship game. How boring can you get?
I can’t believe anyone would give them votes for number one, after they barely got past Ohio State and Ohio State looked pitiful against USC. Go figure.

Hey, an SEC team cannot be allowed to win it every year. Just sit down and think about that for a sec. If an SEC team wins every year, the illusion of amateur athletics will no longer plausible and, plus, the rest of the country would become pissed and tire of it rather quickly. That’s probably why PSU and UT will most likely be the matchip this year in the MNC. Can’t you already hear the talking heads trying to pump up PSU and such a match up?
And this is probably one of the reasons why a playoff hasn’t happened just yet. Too many disparities between conferences and amongst schools in reffing and, let us say, academic issues. If a playoff was allowed to happen legitimately, an SEC team would almost always assuredly win. Due to its geographic position and its questionable dealings, it is by far the best and most athletic conference in the land.
I would say that gap in athleticism between the SEC and the B12 is as large as say the separation between B12 and the BE or the MWC. And anyone with any level of objectivity can see this disparity with nothing more than the naked eye.

Yes you would say that.
There are exactly two QB’s starting in the SEC would could start in the Big 12. And anyone with any level of objectivity can see this disparity with nothing more than the naked eye.

Hey Dalton, you do realize that ‘Bama already handed Georgia their ass?
I’m not convinced that ‘Bama is all that great. They mess around with a terrible Tennessee team that half the Big 12 would rout.

Teams from the most athletic conference in the land shouldn’t lose to Duke.

I don’t think Bama’s offense is as good as Texas. Certainly not behind center, but their running game is pretty strong. Defensively, Alabama is close to some of the Bama teams of old, but not quite as good. I see them falling at some point, maybe to Florida if they get to the SEC championship.
Regardless, they’re better than Penn State.
There’s just a bunch of good teams out there right now, but I give Texas the edge simply because of Colt. He’s just got that star quality and gamesmanship you can’t coach.
And give the SEC vs. everyone a rest. Good lord. Everyone knows the SEC has great teams and athletes. But so does the Big 12 and even the PAC-10 if you want to look at all sports across the board. Hell, Stanford probably has the best athletic program in the country and far fewer druggies than the big SEC schools.
My kid ran track for an SEC school, btw. I’m well acquainted with them.

You are probably right, but we can at least agree that the greatest offensive minds do not exist in the SEC.
Steven many think the SEC scores are so low because their defenses are so good. The reality is they are that way because of the conservative offensive schemes. The big10 is guilty of this too. Run the ball…… throw when you have to…. play good defense. That is the motto of every team not named Florida. Look at their out of conference yards and scores. They rarely roll up 600 yards on anyone.
The SEC dominance myth was created by conservative teams like Ohio State going in with a passive game plan, and getting steam rolled. Before the Buckeyes the SEC teams won by narrow margins just like everyone else.
