About what I expected, as the student section was pretty tame as well. But my question about standing still, uh, stands. Will I get yells of “down in front!” if we stand throughout a game? If that’s a question better left until after Arkansas, I guess we’ll sneak into the student section one more time.

The atmosphere reflected the opponent and how the game was going. Enthusiasm at the begining, lots of standing up for “big” moments, but fairly tame most of the game.

We have season tickets in the new upper deck (section 115, row 14) but decided to sneak into section 19 for the opener.

What’s the atmosphere in the new upper deck? Particularly, do folks stand/get loud? I prefer to stand (not sit) and stay for the entire game.

Vasherized, I’m referring to those who leave and don’t come back, or don’t ever make into the stadium to begin with because they’d rather drink.

To me, it’s too much hassle to leave and come back, but that’s your right. I drank a few beers at a tailgate before the game, and a little wine at dinner, after the game. I figure if the team can tough out the heat on the field, I can do so in the stands. I can’t think of anyplace I’d rather be not drinking beer than DKR.

Call me crazy. I like to have a beer or three at half time, particularly when it’s 95 degrees with sorority dress clinging levels of humidity. About 10,000 other so-called fans also find football and beer to have an appealing synergy in these conditions.

A lot of those seats on the west side were empty to start the game. As usual, some of the big donors between the 20s didn’t make the home opener. Leaves plenty of room for me to walk back into the stadium in the third quarter and snag an empty chairback on the 40 yard line.

And I too enjoyed every minute of it.

I don’t get why so-called fans would rather drink beer outside the stadium than watch the Horns inside the stadium. I was seated before 5:00PM, stayed until we sang The Eyes after the game, and loved every minute of it.

My seats are also in the NEZ and I’m very pleased with the view. The stadium is simply incredible and I can’t wait to see how much noise we can generate against Arkansas.

Whatever. Haven’t seen that many empty seats since the ‘83 Rockets won only 12 games. FYI – There’s very little chance of going to the alumni center, drinking anything of substance and returning to your seats by the start of the 3rd quarter. Go to a sports bar instead of the game and give your tickets to real fans.
