No kidding – no one would pay $20 for an SMU-TCU ticket nowadays!

Yes we were what you call classic late adapters. We knew we couldn’t keep up with all the new fangled rules, so just kept Bud Wilkinson’s calendar in the coaches office and pretented it was the 1940’s and 1950’s.

You know, there are people today saying the same thing about their FIL who played for SMU in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Of course, by then there were rules against it…

My late FIL played for SMU in the late 30’s. He had an alumnus that took care of his clothing needs, and he always had walking around money.

Tickets were $2 each. He said he could sell his Texas tickets for $10 — and his TCU tickets for $20.
